Wieder ein Vize-Weltmeister mehr...
Ich blicke da nicht mehr durch. Wer wurde jetzt Vize-Weltmeister in der 8-Hunde Kategorie?
Oder gab es vergangenen Winter zwei offene Weltmeisterschaften?
Leider bin ich nicht mehr ganz auf dem Laufenden. |

Moin, moin, fest steht, der Weltmeistertitel in der Achthundeklasse wurde in Hamar ausgefahren.
Der Massenstart am Holmenkolm in der Achthundeklasse wurde im Vorfeld als Demonstrationslauf angekündigt.
Ich bin gleichermaßen erstaunt, was daraus gemacht wurde, aber ich denke mir, das Kind musste einen Namen haben und dann hat man eben noch mal einfach auf einen Weltmeistertitel zurück gegriffen.
In der Rennordnung der IFSS ist dieser Titel weder erwähnt, noch abgedeckt.
Ein Weltmeister mehr oder weniger bei der Inflation der Weltmeistertitel, was macht das schon.

IFSS Secretary General
“This event was simply first class, the best,” was the echo of comments regarding the caliber of the Sprint, Mid-Distance and Nordic IFSS World Championships in Norway, March 18-27th. Approximately 450 entries from twenty-two countries competed in the fourteen different classes at Hamar and Holmenkollen. Spectators and competitors alike praised the venues and the skills of the hosts, the World Championship Organizing Committee, headed by Steinar Ellefsen, and the Norwegian Sleddog Federation, Norges Hundejörerforbund, headed by its president, Gunnar Solberg.
Two years in the making, the World Championship couldn’t have experienced more perfect weather. Temperatures ranged in the 0°C to 5+° during the competition. Trails were also in excellent condition, despite snow and warm temperatures. The first day at Hamar was snowy, but subsequent days were bright and sunny. Holmenkollen saw slightly warmer temperatures, necessitating shortening some of the longer trails for the sake of the dogs’ health. The Sprint and Nordic World Championships fielded teams from as far away as Korea and Australia and New Zealand. The USA was able to send eight teams.
Opening ceremonies took place at both Hamar and Holmenkollen. At Hamar, it was hosted in the city streets with a procession of athletes to the Town Hall where a children’s choir sang and welcome speeches were given. Holmenkollen’s opening ceremonies took place in the stadium with teenagers in typical Norwegian costumes followed again by welcome speeches and then a press conference. The media were omnipresent at all the events, and a video clip is due to be shown on Eurosport. An hour’s program filmed at Holmenkollen was broadcast on local television after competition on the Saturday and uploaded to UTube and the WCh website at www.sleddog2011.no.
Robert Schiesser presided over the race events at Hamar as race marshal. He took the opportunity at the Hamar banquet to thank everyone for their great efforts and demonstration of good sports spirits. The veterinary team were also impressed with how well the competitors cared for their dogs. Chief veterinarian for Hamar area, Steinar Dagstadt was also satisfied with how the event went from the animal welfare perspective. Bengt Pontén, IFSS president, gave a round of applause, too: “The way the WCh 2011 has been carried out will inspire other organizers and will be an aim for future Championships.”
Olle Rosén was the Race Marshal at the Holmenkollen arena. There were four days of competition with an incredible five mass start events on the Saturday. Olle was ecstatic with the way Saturday unfolded. The mass starts were without incident and created a spectacular vista for the audience. The veterinary team was again impressed. “The dogs are in shipshape condition and there are no injuries so far. Sleddog racers in general are very good at caring for their dogs’ welfare,” commented Lars Gundersen, the chief vet at Holmenkollen.
A controversy in the events occurred due to inaccuracies in the records for the dogs in their pet passports and certificates. The Norwegian Food Safety Authority arrived at Hamar and examined all papers for all the dogs and, upon finding anomalies, with the help of the IFSS officials, worked late into the night to examine the dogs’ papers. Most dealt with the rabies titration test and the required 120 days’ wait after the rabies vaccination before the blood for the titration could be drawn. A few papers had no proof that the dogs were given the required worming for echinococcus (fox tapeworm). In the end, those dogs concerned were not allowed to participate in competition but could remain on the premises. In normal circumstances, the dogs would have been taken directly to a quarantine kennel. The competitors and their dogs were granted this favor, and everyone rested a bit easier.
Norwegians overpowered all others in the medal count, taking forty-three compared to nineteen for Finland. Sweden garnered eighteen medals while Germany came fourth highest with eight medals. Although the Norwegians may have collected the most medals, that didn’t prevent other competitors from relishing the experience and mingling with the elite from so many countries.
Travelling from the opposite side of the globe were three Korean teams. Team leader, Byong Chul Bhang, commented, “Sleddog racers are just like a big family whether in Korea or in Norway.” The Korean teams were able to borrow dogs from Norway, Germany, and Iceland. Korean competitor Kyun Woo-Cho says that “Next time we hope to bring our own dogs.”

One Australian team member, Phillip Friedlander, at great personal expense, brought his own dog with him and was thrilled at being a part of the WCh. He commented, “This has been my greatest life experience to date.”
Special guests at the events included Crown Prince Haakon, who oversaw races on the afternoon of the second day at Holmenkollen. He loves dogs and thoroughly enjoyed himself, meeting with many of Team Norway. His invitation was instigated by fourteen-year-old Norwegian junior competitor, Thea Bjørnebakken, who sent an invitational letter to the king after watching the Ski World Championship at Holmenkollen, where he had appeared. Unable to accept the invitation, the king instead sent HRH Crown Prince Haakon.

Another honored guest was Gerhard Heiberg, who serves on the Executive Committee of the IOC (International Olympic Committee). He, too, like many others, was exceptionally impressed by the Championships: “What I have seen of the organizing, executing and efforts from both dogs and participants is very impressive.” IFSS is anxious to be part of the Olympic Games, and Gerhard Heiberg, always a fan of our sport, has expressed his positive opinion to the IOC Executive.
IFSS thanks the WCh Organizing Committee and Norges Hundejörerforbund (NHF) for all their hard work and efforts in making this world championship a huge success. The volunteers were many and their jobs executed with competence and enthusiasm. WCh 2011 has set a high bar for future world championships. But it is with optimism that the torch will be successfully carried to the 2013 venue. Special thanks goes to our wonderful canine partners. Race results can be found at www.sleddog2011.no.

Somit gab es doch zwei Weltmeister. Ein auf der normalen Streckenlänge und einen auf der kurzen Strecke.
Somit darf sich der eine Normaler Weltmeister nennen, der andere "Kurzer" Weltmeister.
Vielleicht gibt es in den Kategorien auch eine entsprechende Preisgeld Aufteilung. Der Normale Weltmeister bekommt das Preisgeld in ganzen Euros, der andere im Cent Bereich...

Snow World Championships in Norway
Monticello, Minnesota USA –The IFSS and the Race Giving Organization (RGO) of the World Championships 2011 in Norway on snow have finalized the list of competitions proposed in the three race sites, Røros, Hamar and Holmenkollen/Oslo, all in Norway.
Between February 3rd and 11th 2011, Røros, Norway, will host the Long Distance classes (8 and 12 dogs) with a separate ranking and specific titles for the Registered Nordic Breed teams.
Between March 18th and 20th 2011, Hamar, Norway, will host the Mid Distance classes (6 and 12 dogs), the 2-dog skijoring, the 4-dog junior, 6-dog, 8-dog and Unlimited sprint classes for all dogs and the Mid Distance (6 and 12 dogs), the 1-dog skijoring, 4-dog, 6-dog, 8-dog and Unlimited sprint classes for Registered Nordic Breed teams.
Between March 24th and 27th 2011, Holmenkollen/Oslo will host the 4-dog sprint, the 4-dog short sprint, the 8-dog short sprint, the 1-dog skijoring, the 1-dog pulka, the Nordic combined and the Nordic Relay classes for all dogs.
World Champion and Vice Champion titles will be awarded to the best teams in the all dog classes and in the Registered Nordic Breed classes. Registered Nordic Breed dogs are dogs of the breeds Siberian Husky, Alaskan Malamute, Greenland dog or Samoyed, registered in a studbook of an FCI national member or partner organization (AKC, CKC, etc.).
